1) Yes you could load the karts in front if you had a gearbox kart and they didn't. But it would be very easy to spot that it was you doing it.

2) There's no "set up the clutch" in Rotax. At least, not without cheating (and the ideal is going to be to slip the clutch to deliver max torque at the rear wheels, which is already caught by Uniloggers). Further, unless we're starting a very long way from the first corner, you wouldn't have the power nor the time to catch and push all the other karts in front. Also, the karts behind you wouldn't necessarily be joining in. The standing start takes the problem from one involving the whole grid to one involving a few isolated groups of karts. Much easier to spot.

The evidence from Bayford Meadows, Rowrah Super 1 and PFi all suggest the standing starts have taken this problem away. The consensus was positive.
