Have you actually watched a start recently? What I've described as happening at PF is exactly what people are complaining about. That is what "loading" is.

You're talking about straight forward firing someone off (i.e. simply not braking and ramming them clean off the circuit). This will happen with both standing and rolling starts. However, with a standing start, you don't have the opportunity to push a whole train of (say) 10 karts across the start line all the way to and through the first corner. This is exactly what happens at PF. The front of the grid will generally get through but starting from 4 rows back or so anything can happen. The drivers are now taught that to survive being loaded from behind, you load the one in front.

This "loading" of the grid is new. We didn't see it before the introduction of clutches.
