1) I said nothing about staggered starts. It's irrelevant. We don't allow the leader to control the pace any more. The marshals are constantly getting the leader to slow down and bunch the pack up. If the leader starts accelerating too soon the start is waved around. This is why you see karts bumper to bumper all the way to the first corner. On this point you're just wrong.

2) Yes, limited evidence. But we have years of evidence showing that, with karting as it is, rolling starts result in accidents.

3) We already watch slipping of clutches, which is where the advantages would be gained. Moreover, this is no different to people looking for an advantage with engines, tyres etc. Not a good argument. With the standing start (or my favoured option, a faster rolling start where the leader can accelerate from the last corner), the karts are less bunched up. It is this that results in safer starts.

4) Err, soo what..... like..... so what about F1? You brought up F1, I brought up the few examples we have of professional series with rolling starts. A much more valid comparison.

5) The CIK are considering returning to DD karts for the international classes. With us lot doing standing starts we would be at a disadvantage.

6) Good.

At no point did I say that rolling starts would be safer (except in this post, where I advocate a better type of rolling start). I'm simply stating that, irrespective of chances of accidents, I personally prefer rolling starts.
