A couple of things that helped us in cadets. Firstly, instill the idea of no half moves. You see a lot of cadets repeatedly starting to make moves only to back out and lose momentum. The second thing that worked well was putting my son right at the back of a 30 kart grid on practice day and telling him he coul have Ł1 for every driver he overtook cleanly in the session. It really helped him to focus on overtaking without hesitation. Cost me Ł25, but my son really enjoyed the driving style, making some outrageous moves.
