Good idea..... but... these are karts.

All the lead driver has to do is to lift-off or brake mid-straight/corner (where the following driver is not expecting it) and.... hey presto... the following driver breaks his nose against the kart in front and is disqualified.

A clever cut out system that switched off the ignition system for (let's guess) 3 seconds every time the nose hits another object MIGHT work.

I still think the old systems were better. For example:-

...the half width rear bumper (not covering the rear wheels) was MUCH better. If the man behind you nudges you, pushes you or rides you into a corner, all you had to do was to move to one side, suddenly, and the 'pushing' driver ran up the rear tyre and now had no steering. The only choice was to brake and that dropped him back. What WE had was some way of paying-back a cheating driver. Today, the full width rear bumper means that the following driver holds all the cards and there is NO disadvantage to them 'pushing'. That's one example of what's gone wrong.

The same sort of example can be given for the side-pods: without those, you didn't DARE make side-to-side contact because you interlocked wheels..... and were off!

It's time we looked at the 'safety' features and,. those that DON'T make things safer should be BANNED...... oh..... and I know they won't be...... and I also know the statistics won't be done to see what's safer/more dangerous because the powers that be would have to do something which would cut the sales of all that damned plastic!
