'Non-MSA' is obviously a negative term and it’s a bit strange to describe something by what it isn’t. We wouldn’t call an orange a non-apple.
That’s why many now prefer to call this area of racing ‘IKR’ – independent kart racing.
Hooton Park was possibly first in putting a positive face on this by calling it ‘IndiKart’, which is of course essentially the same term.
Relative to MSA racing, IKR is a growth area. There are all sorts of (good) reasons for this, but perhaps the biggest is that the participants (customers!) can have a direct, democratic input concerning the rules under which they race.
Unlike MSA racing, IKR is typically organised directly by the track owners / operators. But there are exceptions like Strubby, OEKC …
