Karting...
Try it for yourself. Compare how hard (impossible) it is to bend the chassis by hand..... try with all you might using just two hands). Then try the same thing in almost any direction on the seat...... be careful not to break it!
Now compare the strengths required by each. Then ask yourself how much extra strength can the highly floppy seat add to the chassis. I think you'll have your answer.....
If you were PULLING along a straight bit of the seat, then it WOULD be almost impossible to stretch it but how much of the time do we ask the seat to add strength in a 'pulled' direction of the seat. It's resistance to bending that is the key factor IN MY OPINION!
People keep forgetting..... placebo tablets ACTUALY DO SOMETHING.... they can easily make people feel better, faster, stronger etc.. It's just that, although they have no CHEMICAL or METABOLIC effects, they STILL DO make a difference in performance...... stiffer seats, anyone?
I am just a sceptic; I won't 'believe' in anything without EVIDENCE of what it's doing. That could well be a serious fault of mine.... but I doubt it!
