The best way to learn is to:-
1) Put chassis on the stand. 2) Make a note of where the pills are, both upper and lower on both sides. 3) loosen the King Pin bolt 4) Remove any bolts or screws holding the pills in place.
Now.....
5) Make sure the pills move freely (undo the kin pin bolt more if not) and rotate the top one though 360 degrees while watching the sub axle from the front and above. You will see the actual movement of the angles of the stub. Now do the same with the bottom one. After 360 degrees, it will return to its original position.
6) note what happens to the angle of the stub as it gets to each 'position' available on the pills. What's really happening is that (for example) the top of the king pin moves forward, left, backward and finally right (not always in that order. That changes the angle of the king-pin and thus the angle fo the stub axle.
What you'll see is the king in moving from standard caster and camber, through full camber with reduced caster, through standard caster with standard camber...... and so on. Now move the lower pill and watch the same thing.
What you'll see is the range of positions that are available to you on the stub axle and you will then see EXACTLY how to adjust them to give you what you want.... If you get 'frightened' by the concept, just put the pills back in the position they first started, put the bolts back in, and tighten the king pin bolt...... and nothing will have changed.
I would argue, it's better for you to see the changes happening in front of you rather than have someone else (who could be wrong) telling you the 'settings'.
Try it. So long as you recorded the original positions of all 4 pills you can always get back to them.
NB.... any change of position of the stub axle will change the toe in/out as you have to adjust the toe in/out AFTER you have moved the stubs. If you are going to go back to the original position, you don't need to worry about this. Please note, the change in Toe In/Out is NOT adjusted by moving the pills, this is just a side effect.
