hi, best to ask roger ! he will pay £2000 for our friends, even though they are to be "equalised!" and his has won no races. so it is easy to see how some engines are now fetching £4000. I know of one personally that cost £5000, but have "heard" of one costing £6000, and seeing the speed of the thing I would not be at all surprised! when I put on about the cranks having that done to them I was slated for it as no one would do that!!!
To say that the clubs(competitors don't want clubman should not really be relevant, the msa should MAKE it a rule in one of the books.(any engine can be bought for £xxx at any meeting) this would then stop the ridiculous prices as the engines would then not be worth the cost of Selecting parts and excessive tuning. it would teach MR. fat wallet(see another thread) and over time would make the Honda the wallet friendly, still competitive, great racing, budget class i believe it was intended to be ?!
as for not wanting to be beaten by it,my driver is only 9 so would not be able to do iame under my proposals , and at the moment he gets beaten by Hondas and comers as well as other iames, but I do know of quite a few very unhappy dads who are considering giving up karting as they only let their sons do it as a hobby in Honda as it is supposed to be the budget class and cannot afford these expensive engines, and are very disheartened at seeing their sons frustration when they try so hard but just get blown away by newcomers to the sport with massive engines and that cannot be good for the Honda class or the sport?
`jase , not sure which bit of dunkes you looked at in july but in the final the Honda was 3/4 of a sec. faster, that to me is nearly a second!
