Kelvin I appreciate your candour and I understand there is an element of 'suck it and see' but if a "competitive" "budget class" engine cannot be obtained for significantly less than the cost of the official msa championship engine, the class cannot be considered to be the budget option. I cannot help but wonder if the reason there are expensive (£4k) engines in the honda class and not in the iame class is as much to do with the relative grid sizes/popularity of the honda class and the comparative number of people wanting a winning advantage. It's ironic that now there is a cost effective solution to parity between engines in the iame class, people still race in the honda class, despite the apparent differences between the engines. I cannot help but wonder why this is the case when prior to the iame engine, when we were deciding which class to race in, the reason which kept coming back was the cost of a competitive comer engine.
