Different rims do work in cadet karting. Why do you think the big shiny teams have spent most of the year on comer black front rims and free line rears? I don’t believe in all the heat and cooling rubbish as it is impossible to measure this unless you had a very expensive telemetry system measuring the temperature of the tyre whilst on track which to my knowledge does exist in karting. The only reasonable explanation I can give for the free line rear rims working better is that they are wider and are simply putting more rubber on the track. Yes rims will only give a front running kid a tenth at best but when you child is young and inexperienced the gains to be found by giving the kart more grip and them a lot more confidence can be massive that’s my two pennies worth and I am only talking from personal experience but I am sure there are others that will tell you different
