Can't announce anything officially yet, as it's all waiting for approval from the MSA, but in my efforts to find out who was enthusiastic about getting TKM up and going again in the North I found I was pushing on a lot of open doors.
ChKRC at Hooton Park, SYKC at Wombwell, CKRC at Rowrah and MBKC at 3 Sisters have ALL been incredibly positive and supportive of the idea of a Northern TKM Club Championship All 4 clubs have committed to running Junior and Senior rounds within their club racing schedule for 2014, and judging from the response of drivers and parents that I have spoken to so far, if (when!) the championship runs it will be well supported with entries. My only disappointment was that some of the drivers that are jumping at the chance of doing the senior rounds are so much quicker than me.
Grahame Butterworth, the Formula TKM Coordinator also deserves a "mention in despatches", as he has also been right behind this from when I first contacted him, and has been doing the necessary work with the MSA to get the championship approved.
The intention is that the Club Championship will encourage drivers to do monthly club rounds at their "home" club, so that when the interclub rounds happen they will have the advantage of knowing their own track. This may or may not work out in practice, but it would be difficult to make things worse than they are now.
There will most definitely be a Senior TKM class running at Wombwell on October 13th, and at Hooton Park on October 20th and November 17th. I'm pretty sure Rowrah will have Junior and Senior TKM classes running for the rest of the year too.
