if you go to the same tracks every month you will start to see a pattern at scrutineering, ie, in Honda where we race, exhaust gasket on first heat, carb second etc,restrictor in third so in the final you could then run your none restricted big carbed engine knowing they are going to check the head ?? never yet seen the timing get checked anywhere,
as for running faster on Saturday I suppose it is all part of the game as in F1 , they run much faster in quali and practice than in race trim, or sometimes even sandbag on Saturday, put the opposition under pressure not knowing what your true pace is?
mind games , alex fergusson was great at it ,as are most F1 team bosses, as you say though if it is the same person doing it every month as at one track we go to it does not work anyway!
