I will stay in a sealed engine class (comer) for as long as possible… which may or may not be that much longer… The problem with the Comer engines themselves is the variation in the parts produced… Most of the parts are cast so the variations between parts are large and therefore easier to select better parts and make vastly different engines.
Since the IAME, is theoretically built to finer tolerances (CNC) there should be less difference between parts. Obviously there are always exceptions, but CNC parts will always be closer matched than cast parts. This may mean that a couple of Monster Engines are available, but the majority would be of a more equal build?
If the IAME were sealed, I would jump straight in now and I would be more comfortable in that class…
By the way, I am not an engine builder nor have any allegiance to one.
