It certainly seems like there is a particular problem in cadets. At LEAST three months running at Shenington we have had a red flag in three lap practice in the cadets. Last month it led to around a half hour hold up in getting to the start of the heats, which can then lead to problems later in the day, so this sort of thing isn't only affecting their own field but the rest of us who are waiting to race. There is no way accidents bad enough to need an ambulance should be happening in three lap practice at all, let alone three months running.
I don't know what the answer is, though. There certainly seems to be a lot of people taking cadets extremely seriously (Little Green Man at Shenington last month was laughable from the point of view of someone who just does the sport for fun and on a small budget), and if all that pressure is being put on eight and nine year olds then it's no wonder they feel like they have to prove themselves every time they go out on the circuit.
