Did the Midland Championships at Rissy this weekend. Having raced there all season so far and thoroughly enjoyed it, this was the first time that I really didn't enjoy the weekend's racing.
There were far too many serious crashes to put it down to just 'racing incidents' with blatant bumping, pushing and loading going on all the time. Both the Cadet B and A finals were red flagged due to serious incidents. My lad got fired off three times in the first five heats that he was in over the weekend. This doesn't usually happen at the regular club weekends.
Whilst the officials cannot be in all places at all times and it is difficult to see everything that goes on, surely a 'non-contact' sport is supposed to be exactly that ? As has been said before, there needs to be some consistency with the penalties and their enforcement and to stop this ridiculous behaviour before someone gets seriously hurt. Or are the MSA waiting for someone to get killed before something is done about it ?
It is worrying when you hear that a team principle has told their driver(s) to 'bash their way to the front'. Win at all costs and to hell with the consequences as no one will get punished ? Seems like it.......
(Rant over - socially had a great weekend and thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of it - Many thanks for your help Chris !!)
