Great post.

I'm not looking at the sport thinking that we're going to win, and indeed we have come to enjoy ourselves and get some good quality dad and lad time, I also have another lad who will hopefully want to have a go in another couple of years. We live very close to Shenny and it is a lovely family club, my little girl has no interest in karting herself but has enjoyed making cakes for the marshalls. So all in all we are trying to have a good family hobby and be part of a good family club.

Your points about money spent to get to the hot seat is a good one, however I'm sure that the likes of maclaren would like to know that they were backing a great driver who proved himself on a reasonably level playing field not a rich kid who spent his way to the top of S1 and whose 'tactics' were more questionable?
