ITpro talks sense on this subject. The thing with the pooled engine idea is:
we realise all engines will not be 100% equal. However they will be alot closer than the current situation. And you wont have the same motor each round. This means you may have the 2nd best motor (in theory) round 1 The worst motor round 2 etc. It gives a much more chance of equality over a 6 round series.
At present you have no chance of having a top 10 motor for even a single round. The pooled engine idea gives everyone an equal chance.
I dont care if it hurts Rotax's ideal marketing of "all engines are equal" as its bull$t anyway, and we all know the facts are not the case no mater how they flower it up.
If rotax tuning was unsealed and allowed material to be removed. I think we would see some different tuners doing well. At present the more money you or your tuner has the more parts they can buy the better overall engines they can build. The small guys cant compete, they may have more knowledge. more skill. but through lake of buying power they dont get the reputation they deserve :-)
