And the real message in this thread is.......
Sealing engines has a single primary objective - maintaining as low a cost base for the competitor/entrant as possible. What it actually does is the opposite. In more than 40 years in motorsport, across 3 continents and a dozen or more series, I have never experienced a sealed engine formula where the costs have not been substantially increased over the alternatives. The manufacturer and the engine sealers all do very nicely thank you. And the alternative you ask? A simple, piston port 2 stroke engine that is built to exacting tolerances (nothing silly - just good) controlled by restricted parts and a robust fiche. No 'evolution' of parts by the manufacturer for set periods (5 years min)to stop constant upgrading to 'must have versions'. Perfectly equal engines are a dream only, but you can get near equality for a heck of a lot less money than sealing!
