Thought I’d mention on here for anybody thinking or about to take your ARKS test. Last Sunday I was taking mine in the south of England and was asked to go out 4 times before they were happy with my driving. The reason they said was they weren’t happy with my speed. The air temp was 2 degrees with an air temp of about -2 degrees and consequently I struggled to get any heat into the tyres which meant I had severe under steer that would then become snap over steer, I started out on a set of brand new Maxxis wets as the track was quite damp and cold, but couldn’t get them to come on so changed to some slicks as the track had dried, but struggled to get them working. Before going out for the fourth time the tester asked me to change the settings on my Kart which helped and I managed to get some heat into my tyres and as such started putting in some reasonable times and actually attack the track. My reason though for putting this on the forum here his to warn others that the ARKs test isn’t just about flags and your ability to drive, if you struggle to set up your chassis at all and the condition are very tricky to say the least, you may find yourself struggling to pass. What little confidence I had is gone and I’m seriously considering weather I should race, if I’m that slow I’ll be nothing more than a mobile chicane, I’d hate to spend my weekend apologising for getting in the way of everybody else or p***ing off my fellows racers because I spoilt there race,
