Chris
would it be worth your while speaking to someone who does re-jigging???
at the very least you can get some advice
in my experience, many people are more than happy to help and their thoughts/ideas may save you loads of time .......and might even result in a more accurate outcome
I just wonder if you are trying to 'overthink' it ........although it would of course be good to have everything absolutely plumb square/straight, as long as the distances relative to each other are there or thereabouts, surely you won't be too far away. If that is the case there are, I think many things that you can do to check to get yourself a good starting point ..........a straight edge is going to be the obvious thing to start with and of course a good tape measure and after that, providing you haven't got massive problems, you should be able to adjust tolerances with the occasional jumping up and down (on the kart of course!!)at strategic points!
good luck
