Hang on Graham. There's no rule whatsoever about using sensors in PRACTICES unless they are part of the 'official practice' of a specific meeting, e.g., the TKM Festival weekend.
The quick guys use the sensors outside the meeting to put what they have learned into practice IN the races.
That's like F1... if you look below the nose of an F1 car on the practice days, you'll often notice a sort of 'bulb' hanging down under the nose which is removed for the races and timed practices. You also often see arrays of sensors at the rear of the car that are removed before the races:-

There doesn't seem to be a rule about using the Mycron 4 without it's additional sensors during a race, either.
