The F1 drivers you mention were taking up to 5G for 2 hours. Your lad, taking around 1.5g for around 10 laps, can't really be compared to that.
If the lad is really suffering (and I AGREE that can happen to younger children), can I politely suggest that you do two things:-
1) Get an exersize program in force to inprove his neck-strength 2) Weigh his current helmet and see if there are any equally safe (or safer) helmets available that weigh signifiucantly less (for a reasonable price!!!).
The weight of the helmet is significant on his neck and you will not only reduce any discomfort but you'll also SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the strain on his whole body if he has a substantial accident.
Please be assured, all I am only trying to do is to HELP! I am not PAID to do any of this! I don't have any 'axe to grind'!
