Towards the end of 2011 Whilton Mill Ltd began talks with some of the teams, companies and individuals who visit the site to discuss ways in which the facilities can be improved. A long term business plan that includes circuit improvement measures, new entrance & development of infrastructure was drawn up and the company began implementing these changes during 2012. There are still many more being planned during the off season in readiness for 2013 and beyond, which include:
1.Removal of the bark & re-modelling of “Pit Bend”. To include new Recticel barrier system, new style kerbs and increased run off area. 2.Removal of all old style CIK kerbs. To be replaced with new MSA “Vallelunga” type. 3.Instalment of the new “TAG HEUER” timing system. Bringing live timing & sector times along with a more accurate & more professional setup. 4.Online driver registration & entry for race weekends. 5.Resurfacing of parts of the circuit to reduce unevenness.
Sustainability has now become a key factor for the company. With this in mind planning permission has been applied for the construction of 15 new Pit Garages to allow teams to be based at the circuit and the exciting news that Dan Holland Racing has just signed a lease to bring his team & company to the venue for the start of 2013. As part of the drive towards the improvements Whilton Mill Ltd is to terminate the agreement for Whilton Mill Kart Club Ltd to run the Whilton Mill Kart Club as from 31st December 2012. The Whilton Mill Kart Club, as recognised by the MSA, will continue in conjunction with Whilton Mill Ltd as it was prior to 2005. All monthly race meetings and both Super One rounds will go ahead as will Wednesday practice days. Members who have paid their 2013 subscriptions will be honoured and all future correspondence and any questions relating to the Kart Club please contact the new Competition Secretary Debbie Sellers on 01327 843951 or debbie@whiltonmill.co.uk.
