Regarding The Canary Isles, a fly away trip like that is definitely outside of my budget but yes would guarantee decent weather.
Although I’m sure any trip like this wouldn’t be cheap I’m thinking of it as a family break, so plenty of karting yes but also some down-time enjoying some pleasant winter weather, hopefully a nice area and the odd glass of red.
Sorry to offend the purists, we can manage here in the UK, we did it all of last winter, out every week, and he was still a Bambino then. However a bit of winter sun never hurt anyone and to be honest it’s as much for my benefit stood on the sidelines as for him on the track.
I guess I was thinking somewhere like southern Spain, where pretty decent weather can be guaranteed. I know this would be a long drive but, at a push I could drive a van out with the kit and wife & lad could take a cheap easyjet flight, I’ve done something similar when I’ve needed to do something for work and it worked quite well, I got to do the stupid miles and grapping cat-naps in service areas and they joined me once there. Price wise, it was actually cheaper than breaking the journey up, to make it family friendly. A couple of families sharing one van would work very well because the two dads could share the driving making the drive out easier.
