The thing is, surely the need for a transponder is entirely so that the circuit has an accurate and accepted, uncallengable means of identifying who finishes and where.
Colin says that there are ways to adapt existing technology where varying 'fields' of data can be provided - and as I read his comments this would apply to both the current AMB kit and the TAG one
So why then can we not have a transponder with the option of varying levels of data so you can choose which one will suit your needs best and therefore be charged accordingly - obviously the version that gives you everything should be more costly to you than the version where all that you want is to strap it on and let it bleep at the right time! ........after all, thats the type of choice available in the high street with TV's and phones etc etc etc
