I agree with the above, in that the balance of numbers might stay with the comer at some clubs for a year or so. Some clubs might stay Comer strongholds for even longer.
My point was that the Iame will undoubtedly become the dominant 2-Stroke engine. My lad has only just made the transition from Bambino to Cadet, I obviously had to make the same decisions, we also had a very tired (non-log booked) Comer but knowing the new engine was coming I'd refused to put any money into it, we got our Iame on day one of its release. We just figured that if we stay with karting we'll be running a cadet for several years and that means we'll eventually need the Iame anyway.
For the first couple of weeks I did wonder if I'd made a mistake but having spoken with many people either with the engine or selling/building them I'm convinced it's the best decision I've made for the following reasons:
Everywhere we go people are impressed with how well it runs, how easily it starts, how little hassle the carb is etc.

Several who have seen us, week in-week out at our local track are now talking about making the switch because of the above.

When we've gone to other tracks we're starting to see more of them (3 out of about 12 at Rowrah on Saturday), apparently about 20 one Saturday at PFi

The numbers being sold do support the suggestion of a strong take-up

Everyone is impressed with the parity of the engine, I even spoke to one dad who has already switched from Honda to the new engine because he considered the Honda class too expensive now, if you want a front running engine!

Most clubs and event series seem to be offering the Iame owners a grid. Northern karting champ's, little green man (record entries now they've opened it to include Iame) etc.
Running costs even seem less than for a comer because the engines seem to stay on song longer, easykart users report 20+ hours on these engines with no drop off in performance.

I guess the other factor is that I know if I need to sell up in a couple of years time my engines will still be worth something, where as if I'd brought good comers a year ago I'd already be sitting on a big loss.

Obviously everyone has to make a choice that's right for them, our choice being newcomers was easy, those already in cadet obviously might reach other conclusions.
