I had a similar thing with a cadet engine from a very reputable builder. Basically I phoned and chatted about the engine and the service I required etc. About a week later the engine came back with things on the bill I didn't realise it needed, mainly ignition parts, it was a running engine by the way when sent.

I at least expected a quick call to say it needed these extra bits, there was also bolts that got replaced that where a ridiculous price. Anyhow after all this the bloody thing never started. It never sparked. Bizzare when it was running sweet when I sent it off.

I phoned them and was furious that A. They hadn't give me a quick call to advise on the engine and extra bits needed and B. The dam thing wouldn't start.

I voted with my feet and never used him again. I never wanted to name and shame as for my one complaint he will have 100's of satisfied customers so when people ask do I know a good cadet builder I just politely tell them what happened and recommend someone else.
