A couple of years ago when recycling was the in thing for the council, our tip was open 7 days a week and anything they could make money on was free.

Now they are closed saturday afternoons and 2 days during the week.

They use to take tyres FOC, now they charge £1.25 a tyre. I assume there is no money in tyres any more.

I suspect that the subsidies for recycling have stopped and now it has to self finance, so any way to save costs and make money is high on their agenda.
