I'm still not sure about the noise thing - I mean either you're allowed a certain noise level on a particular day or not. I cannot think of a logical reason why it's not ok to rev (for example) a Senior max in the pits when there are 20 Juniors screaming down the straight @ 14,000 revs at the same time.
I do not know the frequency of accidents involving kart engines being run on a stand in the pits but presumably there is a risk like most other things. However, is it less safe than, for example, kneeling next to a kart on the grid blowing fuel into the carb while the driver of the kart a few inches behind is running the engine?
It would be interesting to see the risk assessments and job hazzard analyses relative to these situations.......
