I can't understand the fixation with 2 stroke. The rest of the motorsport world has moved on and I believe that karting is the only division left where 2 stroke is still used at the top level. 4 stroke is where all the development resources are being spent. Whereas, with the possible exception of powerboating, 2 strokes are not really developing at all. I can understand the nostalgia for the 20,000 rpm grenades of yesteryear, but is that really the way forward? We race in TKM4/ and while it is not perfect it is arguably the most even class out there, and maintenance costs are sensible unless you are unlucky. I am sure that the TKM engine is capable of more power and that new engines using spin off technology from the Moto 2 and 3 engines will be even better. As for Aixro? I don't know but everyone who sees them seems to be convinced... In the end, what does it matter whether engines are 2 or 4 stroke as long as they are reliable, level in performance and cost sensible money to run.
