Well I think in super karts it will be a few years. The ktm is starting to be successful and the supply of cr250 engines will run out sooner rather than later. Karting is slightly different to other motorsports as there are specialist engine builders rather than large manufacturers, but eventually they will be constrained by eu emission rules just like the tyres had to change due to environmental reasons.

There is nothing wrong with purpose built 4/ engines like the ktm and Tkm 4/, they're proven to be very quick and fun to drive aswell as being reliable and economical to run with longer engine life between engine rebuilds
