First of all, a big thank you to all of the officials and marshalls who did their best to keep the meeting going; not an envious task......... but the weather won out in the end. It was ironical that the next day was beautiful, only a few miles down the road near Bedford. Somebody's law, if I remember correctly. Regarding the interpretation of the regulations....... everybody has their own 'take' on what they read, even me! The two regulations that have been mentioned in previous postings are 1.7.6.1 and 1.8.5.1. For those who haven't got their S1 regulations to hand ~ 1.7.6.1 says 'If the meeting is stopped as per 1.8.5.1 there will be no Championship points given and the Championship total best scores as shown in 1.7.2 will be reduced by 2 best scores.' Regulation 1.8.5.1 says 'If a meeting is stopped prior to the completion of the heats there will be no points or awards given for the meeting {see 1.7.6.1}' As I see it and I'm not a lawyer,the wording of 1.8.5.1 doesn't say .... prior to the completion of ALL heats, therefore the classes where the heats were completed, can have points or awards given. To produce regultions with no ambiguities is near impossible, but this could be solved quite simply with the addition of the word ALL infront of the word heats in 1.8.5.1 {if that was the intention!}
