If you think karters are being hard done-by, consider what has happened to George Gamble in Ginetta Juniors: His car was written off in a Saturday race. If he had used a another car on Sunday he would have had a penalty deduction of 20 championship points.(Lunacy). So he did not race because it was, & he was pointless. He has decided to leave the series and do something else.
Rules are there to be obeyed but it is always in unusual circumstances that their limitations are exposed - this is the point at which we hope that common sense takes over and a reasonable solution is found. The apparent lack of this is what people are getting upset about.
The last few years of karting have been littered with examples like this. For example, the banning of metal chassis protectors, automatic license points for various offences, the Rotax clutch debacle. In all cases it would have been much better to take a careful, considered approach to what were genuine problems that needed sorting out.
Decide in haste, repent at leisure.
