This is just an idea that I have. May not be practical however, have the kerbs as they are, then have a lazer sticking out a a predeterminded place, if this lazer is broken it alerts the marshal at that corner and then that driver gets in trouble. That would allow people to ride them to a certain point, yet penalize them if they went past a certain point. If you go over the lazer then you have no argument.

This way avoids having dangerous hazards on the track and probably wouldn't be to expensive to implement a simple version of this system.
