In most sport, real sport, if you accidentally eat something that has a tiny quantity of something in it that has the slightest chance of giving you a performance edge, you can be banned, even for life.
Yet in karting, racing in formulas that are supposed to be equal (that's the point of sealing engines after all), businessmen openly sell, performance enhancement to the highest bidder, so that their children can beat other children. Most objective observers would call that cheating.
And to clarify, I build selected parts engines to be sealed, so that the well off or well connected can win. It's a nice earner. Before I crossed over, I spent 3 years trying to find solutions to make racing fairer and more accessible. I failed; banging my head against a wall would have been easier. So as I couldn't beat them, I joined them.
But I wouldn't have my kids anywhere near kart racing now, even if I won the lottery. In the various sports they now do. They still compete and sometimes win, on merit alone.
