You're right Graham, it is easy to criticise from a distance that's why I started by saying its a hell of a lot better than what we used to have - they've done a good job and its moving in the right direction.
I wanted to issue some constructive feedback as to how it comes across to the end user / customer. for S1 to consider.
For instance, the update you just gave in 2 lines would be much more useful on the homepage of the website than the news articles that are currently on there and might have helped customers understand the current situation and when the full details would be available.
Be proactive, set the customer's expectations and they won't need to sit around wondering what will happen / when.
