Theres a good reason not to have qualifying at a beginners level. Its makes the drivers infinitely better at dealing with slow drivers.

With Ian on this one, completely the job the of overtaking driver to pass a slow kart. The novice driver (who will only ever learn to go faster driving with other karts) should not take his hands off the wheel to point past, should not deviate from his chosen trajectory and should definitely not be looking behind him for people coming.
