sometimes wi-fi at those places doesnt allow emails to be sent or received. or sometimes they justs dont work (probably better these days but i had probs with mcdonalds a few years back. a bit annoying when you have driven there, ordered the cheapest thing and then find the wifi not working).

i have a mobile broadband dongle with t-mobile now. Ł2 for a day (500mb limit but you still get a slower rate after that) Ł4 for 3days, Ł7 for 7 days....

ok , its about Ł20 initially (i got 30days unlimited use with that i think) but once youve got it you can surf whenever and wherever.
