We were also there and racing, and I would like to offer my opinion on a couple of your points, just to offer some balance and context and support of the officials in what is often a very difficult and thankless task.
Firstly about being on the grid in time. As you know the weather was very changable all weekend and getting it right between wet tyres and dry was extremely difficult let alone any other settings. That was highlighted in one heat we were in where only two went on wets (one winning) but the fastest laps ended up being with those on slicks. There were instances in previous races where teams and individuals were swarming on a kart on the grid to try and get optimal set up long after the 1 minute countdown had passed and karts should be on the floor which caused arguments for some who felt others had unfair advantage. For that reason alone I support the tough stance on having karts on the ground on time and I think it worked fairly for all. If you don't take a tough stance, some will push it beyond the limits of fairness on others. Seen it happen.
Also on stopping rolling laps I'll be honest and say I didn't see the incident but again last month there were problems with speeding up and slowing down just to try and catch P2 out on the start and clearly in breach of Blue Book rules. The outcome of that incident caused a lot more problems at the time and afterwards and I have to say I support the equally tough stance taken at the weekend.
I think the meeting was run well in difficult conditions and a clear message to all is sometimes the only way to ensure fairness for all and adherence to rules (which this forum frequently moans about when they're not adhered to)
