It sounds nice but its not true... The moon is about 240 thousand miles away Nearest star (our sun) is about 93 million miles away (390 times further than the moon) Next nearest after that is Proxima Centauri at very roughly 140 thousand million miles away (6 million times further than the moon). So, if you aim for the moon, and come up short you are much more likely to eventually come crashing down to Earth again... How strangely true, but that should not stop anyone from trying ! ...BTW I know nothing about Astronomy, though I did read some Douglas Adams books... "Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space".
