Protecting Kart Bodywork

Hi,
Just had my lads kart bodywork vinyl wrapped. It now occurs to me that it wont last 5 mins out on track so need to get it protected somehow. I was thinking maybe sticky back plastic but not sure it will be robust enough.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
