I have seen many adverts in motorsport media for several scholarships such as Mazda MX5's, Formula Fords, Renault Clio's etc where the winner wins a fully funded season's racing with the team running the scholarship.
It seems that you pay like £299 for round one and then if you get through to round 2 you pay another £299 and then the semi final and final is free.
I would be interested to hear your thoughts on these scholarships as I am not sure if they are 100% genuine and could be a con. For example do these teams already have a driver in mind / signed up and the scholarship is used purely for their funding ?
I took pat in one scholarship in 2009 and in the end the driver they selected was the driver who was runner up the previous year. Thats what kind of leads me to have concern.
It would be a dream come true for me to race cars, but I know realistically I will never have the budget to do so. Thats why these scholarships seem attractive to me, but I don't ever want to be wasting that sort of money.
