just sounds like you have gone the wrong way with your jetting. If your engine pops and spits under acceleration then you too rich, if it pops at high revs, say at the ned of a long straight, then your too lean. Sounds like you were too rich as you say it was popping under acceleration. Perhaps shpould have tried going to 158 or something. The only other thing it may be is fuel. Were you using std unleaded or super ?, as super can have the effect you are talking about.
