A basic general comparison might be this:

If lean coming out of a tight corner he may experience a loss of overall power ie same response only weaker.

If rich in the same situation ('bogging') then he may notice an initial lack of throttle response which then returns to normal as revs pick up. This can be caused by the needle position being too high eg clip 4 or 5.

To complicate things further, these examples will also be affected by the level of fuel in the bowl at the bottom of the carb.
Best to let your driver try the different settings and see what he says.
