to understand why it is almost impossible to design software to preset a kart's tyres with any accuracy.

In particular note that the difference of 0.2 kgcm2 (2.8psi) is enough to go from 'good grip to bad grip.

F1 tyres run at 100C, kart tyres run at about 60-65C.

The gas formula T/p=t1/p1 (a first temperature divided by the pressure will equal the second temperature divided by its (heat induced) pressure,) will tell you what pressure to set the tyre for the first run. (Look up past threads on tyre pressures, I've explained it several times)

Knowing how much energy the driver puts into the tyres on average for a particular track will tell you how you can adjust that initial pressure to alter performance.

( A software programme might stop you needing to make notes, but it isn't going to alter the simple nature of the calculation, and you are not allowed to make record the data of a moving kart in sufficient detail on race day to make that calculation better.)
