The change in handing is notable. However, the degree of that change is up to the driver! If you set the brakes to be biased to the rear, it handles more like a rear-braked kart than if you bring the brake bias forward.
However, the BEST braking comes from a HUGE frontal bias and the effect is simply LUDICROUS! With properly set-up front brakes, you don't NEED a motor with a big 'top-end' as you simply WAFT bye under braking! Overtaking when you have front brakes is almost ABUSIVE!
They also alter your 'resistance' to the rear end shunt! The kart will be MUCH more stable under braking and a shove in the rear can be withstood with absolute EASE! Because the rear is not so close to 'locking', even a HARD 'tap' doesn't have to put you off-line. The second part is that the bloke behind gets a NASTY shock as the 'shunt' will unsettle his kart MASSIVELY! How do I know that? Guess who used to be the bloke following rear-braked karts and guess what happened each time I tried to RAM the guy in-front!
Put simply.... I'd BAN them on everything bar Gear-Box and Aixro. Yes, they make you HUGELY quicker in ALL the right places (if properly set-up) but they take the FUN out of racing. Karts are great to watch BECAUSE the braking zone is so 'fraught' and the drivers are SO near-the-edge with only rear-brakes.
