Just want to clarify something as clearly you didn't follow the point I was making in a previous thread and now you are misquoting it.

My use of the term "growing room" was in no way intended to convey that a parent should ever buy anything other than the "right" size helmet for their child. On reflection I am happy to concede I should not have used that particular phrase at all given the potential for misinterpretation by someone who may not have been fully following the jist of the conversation.

As someone who has actually had to choose and buy a new CMR helmet recently (as opposed to those who have let's say "a more theoritical position on the subject") the advice that was being conveyed was to go and try each helmet brand on and get the best fit over one brand or another.

It just so happens that the choice for us was a too tight or too loose Arai versus a perfectly fitting and comfortable Bell. Now given that we are commencing our second season with this helmet and I know my lad has invariable "enlarged" a little , this particular helmet has indeed offered some "enlargement" room. I didn't buy it for that reason, it's simply that at the moment my lad's head size is within the tolerance zone offered by that particular manufacturer's helmet sizing steps.

Was I so wrong in trying to convey that message to someone who was worried about how often he would have to change helmets and the cost of them - get real!

As far as my own lad is concerned you don't need to have any concerns for his safety. When it looks like his helmet is not the perfect size or it's too tight we'll take him and try the next size up, and we'll keep doing that until his head is fully grown and then we'll be changing helmets for lot's of other reasons.

Obviously I don't expect you to agree with such an approach as presumably you only have made to measure helmets so that your safety is in no way compromised by the different steps in sizes of a particular helmet manufacturer.
