Ash, I saw the ad and had a chuckle. I swiftly proceeded to the forum to post a bit of a joke thread asking if they fancied checking over a Storm then noticed you'd beaten me to it! And have got to say, did a great job of it!
Lets be fair. Ash has got a valid point. He spent a lot of his hard earned cash on a chassis and was pretty excited about doing some racing after 8 years out. Now he's considering quitting because he spent so much money and got nothing back out of it! He probably didn't even enjoy the racing he did manage to do!
I couldn't agree more that a problem on this scale warrants at least an answer either by email, phone etc. Everyone is busy and I guess waiting for a week, maybe two is ok, but its disappointing to say the least that you didnt get a response.
Having said that John did reply to me and a few others. Problem is, the resolution means a long drive or courier (more money) for JKH to examine the kart. Not too sure why? I had to get the thing welded so many times (as emergency repairs trackside) you can't see the cracks and it won't tell you much. All thats important is that the thing cracked after 2 meetings with no collision or shunt of any kind. Why should I fork out money for someone to examine it and either tell me theres nothing they can do or give me a new frame, that will just crack again anyway?! You don't need to examine it, I can tell you whats wrong - It cracked with minimal usage in 4-5 seperate areas (can't remember exactly, I lost count).
Its a shame. First time out, I couldnt be more chuffed with my Storm, it was on the pace, looked good and was within my price range. But now, I've just had to fork out for a Tonykart. So no racing last year, because the thing kept snapping, no resale value, and a big bill. Should have gone for the Tonykart all along. Lesson learned.
Fair treatment? I have to say no. If you brought a pair of trainers and the sole came off after walking for 2 hours, would you take them back and get a refund? Yes, of course you would. Why should this be any different? I purchased something in good faith but the product CERTAINLY wasn't fit for the purpose... I heard something about a law-suit... any news on that?!
