have the number of karters actually decreased, or is it because there are more tracks and series to race in, so it spreads the numbers more.

in some respects i think the whole of motorsport has become too commercialised and expensive, i remember back in 1995 when i went to my first car meeting at donington, each grid was packed with about 30 cars in each race....your lucky to get 20 now, but again that could be down to cost, or just more series out there.
